Cravings

Just for memories' sake, I decided to post some normal, not-so-normal, and downright crazy cravings to look back on. These are in no particular order, as today I'm 30 weeks and I'm just now getting around to post this! I'll start with my most recent events, and hopefully I'll remember them as I keep writing!

McCallister's sweet Tea
Rainbow chip icing
Crushed Ice
DIET A&W ice-cold root beer
cold stone ice cream
spaghetti
tacos, tacos, tacos
reese's peanut butter cups (small version, not normal sized)
yogurt
apples
Iced Coffees from McDonalds (not Starbucks surprisingly)
strawberries
shrimp
cranberry juice with diet sprite
krispy kreme doughnuts
pancakes
SNOW CONESSSS
English muffins with cheese/tomatoes/onions (whole wheat, 100cal muffin)

I'll post more if I figure any more out! No wonder I've gained weight...all the cravings are sweets and carbs!!!

P.S. I sure would love a snow cone machine. That is the one craving (and the rainbow chip icing) that I have not indulged as of today at 3:31pm. :)

No one's a stranger when you're pregnant...

I decided to document the little sayings and scenarios that I have encountered over the past few weeks. There must be a direct correlation between the size of your belly and the nosiness/friendliness/compassion of strangers. For your reading pleasure, I will just update what happened this week...keep in mind, there are many more where this came from!

In McDonalds getting an iced coffee "You look really cute in that outfit"
Walking to cafeteria in hospital "When you comin' to see us?"-lady in scrubs. "Oh, you must work in labor and delivery!"-me. "Yes, honey, we will see you soon!"
In a restaurant at the beach "Oh gosh, they are BOTH pregnant! 2 pregnant ladies together" (don't know exactly what this meant, but obviously when you and a friend are pregnant, people think it's interesting.
In a patient's room "You must be having a girl...your hips are wide!"
On the bus "You are going to have such a hot summer...poor thing"
And my favorite "Are you going to take time off of work before the baby is due? " I WISH I had that luxury!!! I will instead be working until the water breaks and then some....

Basically, the point of this story is to say that no one is a stranger when you are pregnant. A round belly automatically dislodges strangers' tongues, and they will ask anything and everything. Good thing I'm a people person!! I actually enjoy how there is a certain bond between you and everyone you pass. It is the one time that strangers are genuinely concerned about you as an individual without knowing anything about you. What would life be like if we were always so friendly?

The Scale

So last Wednesday, my first day of VACATION, I had my glucose test at 9:30. Of course, they always weigh you first, which is like being a contestant on The Biggest Loser...But, it's more like The Biggest Gainer!! A little nurse the size of Thumbelina and probably four times my age weighed me. As we walked to the exam room, I couldn't help but notice her head came about to the level of my ribcage...no lie. She STOPS in the middle of the hallway, looks me up and down for a good 5 seconds, consults her chart, and then looks at me again. She then says, "Hmm..I was just seeing if I had read the scale right!". What in the world do you say to that? "Oh yes, Thumbelina, you read it right...I have gained another 10 lbs, and that is cause for making a scene in the hallway", or "Thumbelina, you and I both know the number on the scale does not correspond to the beauty of my pregnant form! It MUST be some mistake! We have GOT to recalibrate that before everyone else is not weighed correctly!" Well, I have no idea what she was thinking, but my imagination took over as I wondered what point she was trying to make. So, when the midwife walks in and makes no comment about my weight, I go on a rant about how I've changed my eating habits, blah blah blah...She looks at me and says "It's going to be ok, Anna. You're doing well. Just keep being careful, and hopefully you will be able to lose the weight afterwards". Hopefully is the key word here :) Oh well...Now that I will be seen every 2 weeks instead of 4-6 weeks, maybe the weight gain won't be as drastic.

Despite all of my complaining, I have really had a peaceful pregnancy without too many horrible symptoms. Each day I become more excited about the person that will make an appearance...he will be the focus of attention, not this growing belly and raging mood swings! :)
